NGO Evald Okas Museum was formed in the year 2000 as a personal initiative with the purpose to establish an art museum to preserve and introduce the oeuvre and art collection of Evald Okas, as well as the art works created by the members of his family. The second aim of the society is to organize workshops, exhibitions, and high-quality art courses.
The museum is located in Haapsalu in a 19-th century building, which is at present the property of the family. The restoration and renovation works are conducted step by step.
So far, the museum has been open and more busy in the summer season. But according to the vision of Evald Okas`s family, the museum should be open all year round, and be a busily working and internationally acknowledged art centre fulfilling different tasks, such as providing studios, exhibition halls, storage rooms, equipment and materials. At the moment, the family is working on promoting the museum and realizing their future vision.
